Building on the success of our 14U team, and alongside the announcement of our 12U team, the Maryland Black Ice has formed an 11U team for the 2022/2023 season. This team will focus on athletes with 2011 and 2012 birth years.
A core focus at the Black Ice organization is player development and fundamentals. We transform athletes into high quality players. We embrace failure and push through boundaries without fear. We encourage players self-advocate, to be great teammates, leaders and friends. Team bonding activities occur throughout the year.
You will have the opportunity to receive instruction from former NCAA players from the University of Maryland, Frostburg and more.

Coach Steve Paquette has been coaching since 2003. In addition to his softball experience, Coach Steve has 12 years experience in rec and club baseball, 7 seasons as a high school baseball coach. 15 years as a high school football coach, and 10 years of high school track. Coach Steve's philosophy is to embrace failure and push through boundaries without fear...to get to know his players and encourage them to self advocate...to teach them be great teammates, leaders and friends. He ensures variety in practices and measures individual player development over the course of a season.
Coach Steve's team participates in strength and agility in the off season and spends time together just to have fun and build a sense of team.
Sportsmanship is very important; poor behavior is not tolerated. Coach Steve's teams always represent themselves in a positive manner.
Casey was a member of the Eastern Tech High School varsity softball team for 4 years. During that time she was named to awards including 1st team All-County and 1st team All-Metro. After high school, Casey spent 2 years at CCBC Catonsville where she played softball and continued her academic career. During that time, she was named 3rd Te

After high school, Casey spent 2 years at CCBC Catonsville where she played softball and continued her academic career. During that time, she was named 3rd Team NJCAA All-American following her freshman season. After 2 years at CCBC Catonsville, Casey then transferred to University of Maryland Baltimore County where she played infield for the retrievers and majored in Health Administration. Casey and her UMBC teammates won 2 straight America East regular season and tournament championships leading them to NCAA Regionals both times.
Allison Short, a member of the original Black Ice team, will be working with our younger age groups to develop their pitching skills. Allison Short completed her pitching career at Frostburg State University, where she was named conference Rookie of the Year in 2015. Allison Short, a member of the original Black Ice team, will be working with our younger age groups to develop their pitching skills. Allison Short completed her pitching career at Frostburg State University, where she was named conference Rookie of the Year in 2015. In 2017, she was selected as a First Team All-CAC and an ECAC South All Star pitcher. Allison was the Bobcats' career leader in wins, games started, appearances and innings pitched in 2018 and is second all time in complete games and shutouts.
